Purdue Research Park is a 725-acre (2.93 km2) research park located in West Lafayette, Indiana, less than 2 miles (3.2 km) north of Purdue University's West Lafayette campus. Representing the largest cluster of technology-based companies in the state of Indiana, the research park is under the continuing development of the Purdue Research Foundation and is currently the largest certified technology park in Indiana. Founded in 1961, Purdue Research Park is now home to more than 140 companies encompassing numerous industries and fields of study, including biology, materials science, and information science, among others.
