Philip Prospero, Prince of Asturias

Felipe Prospero 1659

Philip Prospero of Spain, Prince of Asturias (Spanish: Felipe Próspero) was the third child and first son of the marriage between Philip IV of Spain and Mariana of Austria. He was born in 1657, eleven years after the death of Balthasar Charles, Prince of Asturias, Philip IV's previous heir. Philip Prospero was thus immediately proclaimed Prince of Asturias, Gerona and Viana.

He died in 1661, only 4 years old. His younger brother, Charles, was born shortly afterwards, and was immediately proclaimed Prince of Asturias. That Prince would accede to the Spanish throne as Charles II.
