Bowling is a game in which players attempt to score points by rolling a bowling ball along a flat surface either into objects called pins or to get close to a target ball. There are many forms of bowling, with one of the most recent being ten-pin bowling and the earliest dating back to ancient Egypt.12 Other places where bowling was first seen were ancient Finland and Yemen,3 and in 300 A.D. in Germany.12 The first standardized rules were established in New York City, on September 9, 1895.citation needed Today, bowling is enjoyed by 95 million people in more than ninety countries worldwide.citation needed

Outdoor variations
The second category of bowling is usually played outdoors on a lawn. At outdoor bowling, the players throw a ball, which is sometimes eccentrically weighted, in an attempt to put it closest to a designated point or slot in the bowling arena.

There are four stages you can encounter when a bowling ball hits a pin: Gutterball, Split, Spare or Strike. A gutterball is when a bowling ball lands in the gutter of a bowling lane, causing it to not knock down pins. A split is when pins are left on each side of the lane; mostly making it "same" on each side, but if a pin is left in the middle, this is not considered a split. A spare is when you knock down pins the first time, and then knock down the rest the second time. If you don't knock any pins down the first time, but knock them all down the second time, this is still considered a spare because a strike can only be achieved the first time. A strike is when you knock down all the pins on the lane the first time. A person only gets two tries per bowl.

Most people can join Leagues. Leagues are when you have three or four people on a team. Leagues can have various amounts, but a number of three to four is best. Skilled bowlers are mostly introduced to Leagues, but people can still get on a league when they first start. People can get up to two tries per turn. Bowling has ten frames. After all of the bowlers on a team have bowled, they move onto the other frame. Once all the frames have been played, they will bowl the second game depending on which game bowlers were playing on. Original bowling has three games, but tournaments can have as much games as six. Winning a tournament has many types of ways to win, but originally, a league must score the highest above an average. Averages are certain points that you must achieve, for example, if your average is 120, you need to score that number or higher. Averages increase over a while if someone is noticing you are doing very well on your bowling. If someone doesen't get their average to much, it can decrease.
