- November 26 - In a secret meeting, several owners of the NHA form the National Hockey League (NHL) to force out the owner of the Toronto Blueshirts NHA team. Toronto's Arena Gardens will operate a temporary franchise in Toronto. The Quebec Bulldogs become members of the new NHL, but are suspended for the season.
- December 19 - The first NHL games are played, beginning the league's inaugural season.
